Black Neckties; What you need to know

Neckties are long pieces of cloth worn around the neck. Black bow ties are the most formal neckties. Long black neckties are a little less formal than bow ties but they are more formal than colored and printed ties. Silver ties and white ties are also good to use even for formal occasions if they are done during day time.

Black bow ties are worn for affairs labeled ‘black tie events’. This dress code also requires the men to wear tuxedo or dinner jackets, black trousers, cummerbund and black leather shoes.

Long black neckties can be worn for slightly less formal affairs that say ‘black tie optional’.

There are now a lot of trendy neckties that you can find in stores alongside with black neckties. These neckties as best worn in parties which are not really very formal. They also go well with office attires unless you work for a company that requires you to deal with a lot of serious business meetings.

Unlike with black neckties that easily match with most outfits, wearing colored and printed neckties require you to have some level of creativity. They have to match well with the color and design of your suit or shirt because they are usually the pieces of clothing that get the first attention. A tie that doesn’t match with the outfit is an eye sore.

One common mistake done by men is wearing printed ties with printed shirts. Printed or patterned ties work well with plain shirts and plain or solid colored ties are best worn with stripes or checkered shirts. Heavily printed or multi-printed shirts are best ‘left alone’.

Neckties may just be small pieces of clothing but they spell a whole lot of difference in ones overall look.
